I'd like to report a very annoying problem that I just confirmed still exists in
the latest build [Version 2023.2 (Build 6429) 64-bit / 12-June-2023], as well as in the past several builds.
When an incoming C-ECHO Verification request is received by MicroDicom, it seems to very annoyingly trigger a
'Refresh DICOM browser' action (as if the user manually clicked on the icon with that name in the 'DICOM browser' toolbar),
in which a "Reading files ..." modal dialog-box appears, thereby preventing the user from using MicroDicom
until the Storage Folder (configurable in Options | DICOM Servers) is completely re-read. And if the Storage Folder happens to contain a large quantity of big DICOM files, this interruption can take an especially-annoying amount of time!
I've been mainly using an older version of MicroDicom [Version 2022.2 (Build 6006) 64-bit / 21-June-2022] for the past year,
just to avoid this issue.
So now, when checking to see if the problem still occurs with Version 2023.2, I decided to investigate it further.
It took me a while to conclude that it was triggered by the C-ECHO Verification request.
(I had incorrectly suspected that it might be internally periodically scheduled whenever the 'Accept receiving studies' checkbox was checked, but now see that there is no connection.)
BTW, I'd like to remind you of the suggestion that I raised back in Jan. 2022:
"Modal dialog box when receiving data very disruptive to productivity",
which is closely related but nevertheless a separate issue.

Thank you Ymor for reporting this issue. We reproduce it on our side and will be fixed in next beta. I will let you know.
About other suggestion, we have to rework our workflow for receiving images. We will think about it again.

I'm happy to report that your fix in beta version 2023.3 (Build 9342) 64-bit, dated August 16th 2023, works perfectly.microdicom wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 2:41 pm This issue is already fixed in the latest beta: https://www.microdicom.com/beta.html
Thank you again for reporting it.
Thank you for once again for being so responsive and for continuously making MicroDicom increasingly better!
Now if you ever get around to reworking MicroDicom's workflow for receiving (and also sending) images -- such that all DICOM communication happens asynchronously, in background thread(s), totally separate from any other GUI thread(s) -- that would make me, and likely many others, very happy, because it should eliminate frequent disruptions to productivity when using the tool.
